0 Card design idea - Easter! :D

Monday, April 06, 2009
A way to show what Easter is truly all about, when the card
can't explain it enough. :)

I only hope no one takes this the wrong way, as I only drew a cross,
because no one really knows what Jesus looks like. :/ :)

0 Random gift wrapping idea - Baby Shower

This is a cute gift for a baby shower I made up. I figure someone has probably done this before, who knows. I've heard great minds think alike... which kind of scares me that someone might have thought of this before I did, or vice versa. :|

Anyway, I had a tiny piece of scrap wrapping paper left over, and decided to use it on this last baby shower gift. I had all the other bags full and couldn't add any more to the bags, because the tissue paper wouldn't stay in. So, I had a small empty tissue box that I stuffed gifts inside at the tissue box opening. I then wrapped a long strip of wrapping paper around all four sides of the tissue box, and what I had left, I cut into two small squares for the top and bottom parts of the tissue box.

I put a square of wrapping paper on the bottom, then I taped a top square on the top of the tissue box, and then cut a slit in the top for the opening. I took three small pieces of decorative tissue paper and tried my best to twist it in the shape of a flower, leaving the extra that is twisted to shove in the tissue box opening.

I used two colors (blue & yellow), leaving blue to be the dominant color of the yellow. Also, I overlapped the tissue paper blue, yellow, blue, making each new tissue layer that's in the center smaller than the last tissue paper piece (e.g. Outer blue tissue paper - big, middle yellow - medium, and last center piece of blue tissue - small.)

Once I had the decorative tissue paper adjusted nicely, I then cut a lot of the long pieces of tissue paper off to make it look more like a flower was on top. The only thing the person that's receiving the gift has to do, is pull the top off and reach in for the goodies. :) I hope this was a fun idea for anyone that likes making fun and unique gifts! :D

The steps below are in order from left to right. :)

0 Random gift wrapping idea - Christmas

Sunday, April 05, 2009
You've seen holographic holiday paper where, printed on the front is in all different colors, and then sparkly trees, stars or whatnot shines through from the holographic under the colors. Yeah, that stuff. I limited myself on using different wrapping paper on some gifts for Christmas one year.

I didn't want to have 5 gifts in red wrapping paper and 5 more in all blue. To use up what all I had left so I wouldn't have any left overs, I flipped over the holographic paper and just used the sparkly side as a new gift wrap design. This works great if you have girls in your family, and you want to make their gifts look sparkly, pretty and girly. It's also cheep too! I found my holographic paper at a dollar store (for $1 dalla). :D

0 Card design idea - Halloween! :D

As kids get older, like my sisters, it gets harder every year to find a nice card that suits their age (and their maturity level), and so, I just thought to post this idea up for anyone that has the ability to draw. :) Whether you can draw stick figures or the "Mona Lisa", it doesn't matter as long as you have the imagination to think outside the box. :)

I usually draw on the envelopes I send out, and depending on the season the birth date is in, I'll draw a cartoon inside the card that's near the closest holiday (e.g. A witch for Halloween, if the child's birthday lands real close to Halloween). Enjoy the pictures! :D
